New Artwork ‘Practise’

I started working full time as an artist in early 2015. Since then I have kept every single pencil stub I have used to create all my artworks.

I created an artwork out of the 272 pencil stubs. The piece is called ‘Practise’ and represents the hard work, time, and dedication I’ve put into developing my skills as an artist over the years.

I made a video explaining the story behind the artwork. This video has now been seen by over 2 MILLION people!

I’ve been completely blown away by the thousands of thoughtful and generous messages I’ve received about the artwork. It’s taken the best part of a decade to create so receiving this response means the world to me.

It’s really touching that people are having such an emotional response to this piece. This is what creating art is all about! Tapping into an idea and deeper meaning that other people can relate to. It’s a joy to be able to share my story and idea and connect with people who resonate.

Cambridge Conference

Last month I was invited to exhibit my work at a conference on the life and work of Sir Christopher Wren. The conference was hosted by The Centre for the Study of Classical Architecture at the University of Cambridge.

I’ve drawn dozens of Wren buildings so I had plenty of options to choose between! In the end I decided to exhibit three drawings I’ve drawn this year, all churches in the City of London: St Mary le Bow, St Clement Danes, and St Margaret Pattens. All three pictures can be seen on my website.

Bomb Damaged Building Series

This idea for a drawing series came about when I stumbled across the scarred facade of St Clement Danes on my walk to work in the morning. It got me thinking about other London facades which still show the signs of bomb damage from the Blitz. Recently I’ve been working on two new drawings of the V&A Museum and Tate Britain facades.

Seeing all three drawings laid out together has been special. Bringing together three buildings from across London that all combine to tell a shared story.
