Fragment (VII) - Cambodia

£750.00

Original graphite pencil drawing of a fragment from Preah Khan temple near Angkor Wat, Cambodia. I was intrigued by this architectural feature, a blind window with the bases of its columns just visible, like something partially unearthed. These decorative colonnettes set into the blind niches are a detail that feels very particular to Cambodian architecture. To me, these ringed colonnettes echoed the trunks of the palm trees surrounding the temples at Angkor. It feels like an echo of the jungle held within the architecture itself.
